Konya has been writing short stories, novels, memoir passages, observations and film scripts since childhood and specialises in writing for children and young people. As the daughter and granddaughter of immigrants from Africa and the Caribbean, she is passionate about increasing diversity in literature and bringing books to a wider audience.
Formerly at Trinity Comprehensive School in Nottingham, Konya is currently in her third year at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London, studying piano. She also plays violin to a very high standard and performs both instruments in concert venues, on television and on radio around the UK and in the Caribbean.

Her experience as a musician, which also involves her visiting schools to perform and lead workshops, has convinced her of the creative and curious nature of all children, their love of learning, of hearing new stories and embracing new ideas.
