Emma van Zeller is a writer, illustrator and art teacher. Her first children’s book, The Spitting Toads, was commissioned by The Newt In Somerset and published by Profile Editions in 2023. It features the magical awakening of the sculptures at the Newt Hotel.

Emma’s areas of interest are nature, specifically regenerative farming and biodiversity, our interrelationship with the plant, art and design and living consciously for a sustainable and upbeat future. Emma works to bring these ideas to life through her books, as well as in educational settings.

Emma is a big believer in the power of the imagination, and giving children the tools to explore their own creativity. Her illustrations are rich in whimsical detail, giving non-readers the chance to decipher the narrative and embellish the story. Her work incorporates humour, hopefully making bedtime, and reading together, more enticing for children and adults alike.

She lives in Somerset with her husband and 2 sons.
