Emily Drabble has been Head of Children's Books Promotion and Prizes at the UK’s largest reading charity BookTrust since 2016. Her job is to read books and help families and people who work with families get excited about reading and the incredible books, authors and illustrators which will help children become readers for life. Before BookTrust she was a Guardian journalist and the editor of Guardian’s children’s book website. She has written news for children and also two non fiction children’s books. Emily has also interviewed many of children’s books greatest and most inspirational creators on stage including Judith Kerr, Michael Morpurgo, Malorie Blackman and Michael Rosen.
Emily has had four children so far, two human and two dachshunds. She has spent most of her free time watching the four legged ones, first a majestic black and tan standard named Woody and now Frida, a mini silver dapple and cream. Observing their adorable antics is the inspiration behind Frida and the Bag. This first Frida story has roots in real life adventures. Looking at the world through Frida’s eyes will hopefully help children navigate their own challenges, as well as being a book children will want to read again and again!
